PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve productivity by irradiating gramineous plants with ion beams, thereby effectively creating the disease resistant variety acquiring the resistance to diseases by the mutagenesis operation of genes. ;SOLUTION: The gramineous plants, such as barley, are irradiated with the ion beams, such as C ion beams (the intensity is preferably 50 to 200Gy, more preferably 50 to 150Gy) to create the disease resistant variety acquiring the resistance to the diseases, such as yellow mosaic, by the mutagenesis operation of the genes. The disease resistant acquired stock acquiring the disease resistance is preferably selected by exposing the gramineous plants after the irradiation with the ion beams to disease injury factors.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
