PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the labor for teaching and to correspond to various kinds of segments in a short time by storing a selected operational pattern and a welding condition input an operational pattern data base, a welding condition data base and the storage means of a control computer. ;SOLUTION: This automatic teaching method is composed of the following processes. Member information of a previously designed metallic box shape structure is inputted into the control computer. The operational pattern is retrieved from the operational pattern data base of the automatic welding equipment base on member information as the key with the control computer. The welding condition is retrieved from the welding condition data base based on member information as the key with the control computer. The operational pattern and the welding condition of the automatic welding equipment, not generating interference in the case of operating the automatic welding equipment from the retrieved operational pattern and welding condition, are selected with the computer. The selected operational pattern and welding condition are stored into the operational pattern data base, the welding condition data base and the storage means of the control computer.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
