The palette comprises a body (1) which has an overall U-shape, within which a mixing plate (8) is embedded. The mixing plate is made of a hard and smooth material. The palette includes a thumb hole (4) enabling it to be gripped in the user's hand. Openings (14,17) are provided in the body to hold the brushes and the colour containers. A pivoting arm (51) includes, at its free end (56) and adapter (57) to hold a colour dispenser in a non-rotary mounting. By manual rotation of a element screwed on to this dispenser, the device distributes precise quantities of colour in chosen positions on the mixing plate (8).
