The refrigerated cabinet has several independent enclosures (2,4,6) stacked one on top of the other. The base enclosure houses the refrigeration plant (8,10,12), which receives and delivers refrigerant fluid. Each of the storage enclosures has a chamber (14) to hold the stored products and a chamber (16) containing the temperature regulation equipment (34,26,28,30,38) for that chamber. Connectors (36) are provided to connect the refrigerant fluid to the source and to the next enclosure in the stack. These connectors are automatically closing so the refrigerant line (24) can be removed and connected to another enclosure. The number of enclosures is thus easily altered and enclosures can be temporarily isolated.
