The ramp is used to allow amphibians, eg. frogs, toads, newts, etc. to escape from a static water tank eg. on a building site. The exit ramp (3) may be made of perforated metal sheet, rolled up into a C-section, with the split at the top. The lower end (17) of the ramp is supported by a float (19) on the surface of the water. The end of the ramp may be pulled up by a wire to gain access for cleaning. The top end is hinged (13) on a wall (5) or beam extending across the tank. During cleaning, dirt may be removed though a pipe (37) applied to the top end (15) of the ramp. The dirt may be carried away through a sloping gutter.
