A process and assembly discharge accumulating (1) fine dust which has been collected especially in a sweeping machine comprises dust being discharged from the collection zone and then compressed into pellets or small rods by mechanical action. The pressure required to compress the fine dust is generated at the discharge orifice by the controlled application of counter pressure (10), discharging pellets or small rods to a hopper. Further claimed is that the pressure assembly (10) is a tube (8) with a chamber (12) closed by a cap (9).
