The compensation system includes a pre-distorter (K) which is connected along a first linear branch, in front of the power amplifier (V) for transmitting the HF signal to be amplified in a non-distorted manner. There is also included at least one parallel pre-distortion branch (4,7), which distorts the HF signal to be amplified, in a manner which compensates for the non-linear distortion. At least one pre-distortion branch has an adjuster (5,9) which is controllable depending on a control voltage (U). The adjuster controls the addition factor (N). The control voltage is proportional to the mean value of the video signal that is transmitted in the HF signal, to effect control level dependent amplification changes.
