Improved slotted drum traversal useful for winder avoiding compensator - by guiding yarn or ribbon using concentric inner drum, useful to provide independent choice of yarn entry and exit point on slotted drum
The method for traversing a yarn (4) or ribbon on a winder comprises using a drum (1) with a guide slot (8) and winding up to give a random or precision wound package (11); where: (i) the yarn (4) is guided by portions (26, 27) of the slot (8) and an inner drum (24); and (ii) the inner drum (24) can either rotate freely as driven by the yarn (4), or it can be driven independently of the slotted drum (1) to forward the yarn (4).
