The external load is suspended not only on one cable and one release device but additionally on a circulating traverse cable. The traverse cable has at least two cable severing devices so that in an emergency the cable can be cut. The traverse is located between the helicopter's fuselage and skid upper edge. The traverse accommodates the cable severing devices, cable direction reversal components, the traverse cable and the load hook.
