FIELD: mining industry. SUBSTANCE: method relates to underground mining of coal deposits. First determined are absolute coordinates of all points of frameline in horizontal plane and absolute vertical coordinates by way of determining barometric pressure in stationary liquid in hollow of hydrostatic tubular sensor. Measured is position of frameline sections relative to boundary of coal-rock in at least one point over length of longwall and at extreme sections of frameline at points of seam exposure into contours of adjacent drifts. Calculated is seam surface formula in absolute coordinates by algebraic summing of absolute coordinates of frameline and relative coordinates with respect to frameline, measuring position of seam at points of given and preceding cycles of cutting face advance, mathematical extrapolation is performed of seam surface in zone of operating member cutters of miner or skimmer, determined is difference of vertical coordinates of seam and frame line and information is received for bringing this difference to zero or to given value of left amount of coal for remote or automatic control of mechanisms. For this purpose, tubular sensor has rigid and flexible pipes. Flexible pipe has two longitudinal strain-gauge sensors located against each other in horizontal plane for measuring configuration of frame line in horizontal plane, and provided in rigid section for measuring barometric pressure are strain-gauge sensors in plane which is perpendicular to pipe axis. Mechanisms are provided with return springs in hydraulic jacks in which pressure is controlled by commuter over one common line depending on position cutters over length of longwall.
