The subject of this patent application is a compensated ballast device for optimisation of the conditions of static and dynamic equilibrium of floating sluice gates subject to variations in level and wave motion. The subject device, illustrated in the technical description and in the attached graphical diagrams, consists of a ballast device with selective operation, in the sense that it only comes into action for angles of inclination of the sluice gate greater than the working angle or only in the range of positions in which the sluice gate may suffer problems of instability of equilibrium, by imparting functional stability characteristics to the sluice gates that are significantly superior to those obtainable with ordinary ballast systems with non- selective operation.
