This invention refers to a procedure for the disposal of solid municipal waste in dumps with low environmental impact. The procedure according to the invention comprises a stage in which the waste is compacted in blocks with a substantially parallelepiped form and a stacking phase for these blocks in a disposal trench in accordance with a sequence which envisages the complete filling of portions of the trench by means of vertical stacking of the blocks with progressive covering of the portions of trench as they are filled one by one.
