PURPOSE:To exactly evaluate the image clarity of coating film of a pretreatment steel sheet for painting by using the sum of power spectra in each hindrance wavelength region of the image clarity of coating film of ordinary painting and thin painting. CONSTITUTION:The hindrance wavelength region WA of the image clarity of coating film of ordinary painting is set in the range of the wavelength of 1.0 - 6.0mm of the analytic curve of frequency that is obtained by performing Fourier transform of the sectional curve of the surface of the pretreatment steel sheet for painting and the hindrance wavelength region WB of the image clarity of coating film of thin painting is set in the range of the wavelength of 200mum - 1.0mm. By comparing the sum of the power spectra in these two wavelength region WA, WB, the image clarity of coating film of thin painting not to mention ordinary painting can be exactly evaluated even if it is any pretreatment steel sheet for painting. Then, by making the sum of power spectrum of the wavelength region WA=0.5mum and the sum of power spectrum of the wavelength WB=2.0mum, the pretreatment steel sheet for painting with excellent image clarity of coating film can be made even if thin painting is applied.
