PURPOSE: To make it possible to perform the accurate automatic measurement of the angle of repose of powder and granular material by performing the measurement by using laser. ;CONSTITUTION: Powder and granular material is mounted on a base stage 7. A longitudinal laser beam is emitted from a laser light emitting part 13 on a laser receiving part 14 with the stack of the powder and granular material in-between. The light emitting part 13 and the light receiving part 14 are horizontally moved with the base stage 7 in-between. The amount of the horizontal movement is detected with a moving-amount detecting means and outputted into an operating means as the displacement data. Meanwhile, part of the laser light emitted from the light emitting part in the longitudinal belt shape is blocked with the stack of the powder and granular material. The other part of the laser light reaches the light receiving part 14 without the blocking with the stack of the powder and granular material. The detected light signal is outputted from the light receiving part 14, which has received the laser light. Thus, the height of the slant surface of the powder and granular material is detected. A detecting and operating means operates the angle of repose based on the detected light data outputted from the light receiving part 14 and the displacement data outputted from the moving-amount detecting means.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
