PURPOSE: To be able to valuate the initial fatigue damage of a heat-resisting low alloy steel from the change of an inner structure even at the stage of the initial fatigue before a microscopic crack occurs on the surface by conducting the steps of gathering a sample, obtaining the ratio of different structures, and comparing the different structures. ;CONSTITUTION: The ratio of the dipolar wall structure of an inner structure to the subgrain structure is obtained from the sample gathered from a real machine. The chart of the ratio of the dipolar structure to the subgrain structure of the inner structure in the known distortion amplitude and known life consumption of the same composition materials are previously obtained. The initial fatigue damage before the microscopic crack occurs and the life consumption can be estimated by comparing the chart with the value obtained from the real machine. Thus, the initial fatigue damage of the case of the heat-resisting low alloy steel such as a steel material for a boiler can be evaluated.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
