PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring device for photonuclear reaction sectional area having a sufficiently high energy resolution. ;SOLUTION: This device has an electron accelerator 11 for generating an electron beam 1; a laser oscillator 12 for generating a laser beam 2; a means for colliding the electron beam 1 to the laser beam 2 to generate a monochromatic γ ray 3 by the principle of inverse Compton scattering; a corpuscular beam generating means for emitting the monochromatic γ ray 3 to a measuring sample 13 to generate a corpuscular beam 4 by the photonuclear reaction between the both; a corpuscular beam detector 14 for detecting the generated corpuscular beam 4; an electron beam detector 15 for measuring the energy of recoil electron 5 generated together with the monochromatic γ ray 3 in the process of the inverse Compton scattering; and a coincidence circuit 16 for obtaining the coincidence of the output signal of the corpuscular beam detector 14 with the output signal of the electron beam detector 15. The photon energy of the incident γray 3 is determined from the energy of the recoil electron 5 to provide a photonuclear reaction sectional area data.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
