PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure safety and to reduce construction period by laying two almost triangular special segments one on the other with their base sides facing their outer peripheries, and cutting and removing the principal part of the base through the cutting of unreinforced concrete using a shield machine. ;SOLUTION: Unreinforced concrete 4b is placed on the surface of one side of a base 4a of steel or reinforced concrete to construct a special segment 4 almost in the form or a triangle. Two special segments 4 are used as a pair and, when a first shield tunnel 1 is being constructed, the base 4a is placed upright and connected to upper and lower portions. In that case, time circular surface of the unreinforced concrete 4b of one segment is incorporated flush with the outer peripheral surface of the other segment 4. Next, as a second shield tunnel 2 is constructed, excavation is performed, and the excavating blade of a shield machine 3 is stopped immediately before making contact with the base 4a. Only a predetermined area of the base 4a is cut and removed from the inside of the first shield tunnel 1 to open a joint, then secondary lining is performed on the joint, and the tunnels 1, 2 are joined together at their crossing parts.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
