PURPOSE: To obtain a new compound useful as a vermin controlling agent for agricultural and horticultural use such as insecticide. ;CONSTITUTION: This compound is expressed by formula I [R1 is phenyl; R2 is H; R3 is H, an alkoxycarbonyl or an acyl; R2 and R3 may together with N form N=CR4NR5R6 (R4 to R6 are each an alkyl); Q is a 6-membered ring containing 1-3 N atoms], e.g. 4-chloro-4'-(5-chloro-6-methyl-4-pyrimidinyloxy) benzophenone 1-dimethylaminoethylidenehydrazone. The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting a compound of formula II with a compound of formula Z-Q (Z is an eliminable group) in the presence of a base (e.g. potassium carbonate) in a solvent (e.g. N,N-dimethylformamide) for 0.3-24hr at a temperature below the boiling point of the system. The amount of the compound of formula Z-Q is 0.5-2mol based on 1mol of the compound of formula II. The compound is effective for the control of agricultural and horticultural vermin such as diamondback moth and common cutworm, stored grain vermin such as flattened rustred flour beetle and agricultural and horticultural pathogen such as leaf rust of wheat.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
