PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a hot rolled steel plate excellent in atmospheric corrosion resistance by subjecting a steel plate of specific composition to hot finish rolling at specific temp. in a finish rolling mill by means of a continuous rolling process. ;SOLUTION: A bar stock of a steel plate, having a composition consisting of, by weight, ≤0.10% C, ≤0.80% Si, ≤0.80% Mn, ≤0.150% P, 0.010% S, ≤0.100% Al, ≤0.010% N, ≤0.50% Cu, ≤0.40% Ni, ≤1.00% Cr, and the balance Fe with inevitable components, is used. The head end and the tail end of this bar stock are cut by the use of welding shears, and a preceding material is joined to a succeeding material by means of a flying joining device. After descaling, the plate is fed to a finish rolling mill and finish-rolled at a temp. between Ar3 and 900°C by a continuous rolling process. By this method, the hot rolled steel plate, minimal in material dispersion in a coil, hardly causing material dispersion between coils, and excellent in atmosphetic corrosion resistance, can be obtained in high yield.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
