PURPOSE: To suppress a surface crack defect occurring at the time of a width adjustment by specifying respectively the temperature range and the frequency of cooling and recovery of heat, further edging drafts of the first, second and succeeding runs after a steel containing one kind or two kinds or over of a prescribed trace metal and trace nitrogen of a prescribed quantity or over is continuously cast. ;CONSTITUTION: An aluminum killed steel or an aluminum silicon killed steel with N≥20ppm, containing either one kind or two kinds or over of 0.020 to 0.100% Al, 0.005 to 0.100% Nb, 0.005 to 0.150% V, and 0.005 to 0.100% Ti, is cast to a slab by a curvature type continuous casting machine. A hot edging rolling is performed to this slab 6 without cooling it after repeating two times or over of cooling and recovery of heat, by which a temperature within 10mm from the surface of the slab is cooled to Ar3-100°C or below and is raised to 1000°C or over and 1250°C or below from and after a final bending straightening by the curvature type continuous casting machine.
