PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supply a voltage whose polarity is opposite to the polarity of a DC power supply and which is higher than the power supply voltage to a load by a method wherein N capacitors are connected in parallel to each other through respective pairs of irreversible control switching means when a DC power supply is outputted and the parallel connection of the N capacitors is switched to the series connection through N+1 current limiting means when the DC power supply output is interrupted. ;SOLUTION: When a switch 26 is closed, a DC power supply 1 charges respective capacitors 8 through diodes (irreversible control switching means) 4 and 5 and, at the same time, supplies a DC voltage to a load 41. When the switch 26 is opened, the respective capacitors 8 in a series connection state supply a double voltage with a reverse polarity to the load 41 through 3 resistors (voltage limiting means) 10. With this constitution, the switching frequency of the switch 26 can be increased and, further, the circuit construction can be simplified.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
