PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to replace a center cutter with ease when excavating upward an inclined shaft. ;SOLUTION: A shaft 1 is provided on both ends of a cutter holder H1 while a guide member 2 is provided on a cutter head D, thereby forming a guide groove 2a which moves slidingly the shaft 1 of the aforesaid cutter holder H1 into an excavating machine by a specified distance. A rotary part 2b whose shaft 1 is turnable, is formed on the inner end of this guide groove 2a. This construction makes it possible to lock the cutter holder H1 with the guide member 2 on the inner end side of the machine by moving the cutter holder slidingly by a specified distance along the guide groove 2a when a center cutter C is replaced, and thereby prevent the drop of the guide member and direct the front surface of the center cutter C inwardly to the machine by turning the guide member at the guide groove on the inner end side of the machine. It is also possible to replace the center cutter C with ease from inside the machine.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
