A method of transferring an identifying mark onto a power transmission belt/belt sleeve (23) by providing a transfer mark film (14) with an identifying mark thereon, providing a canvas sheet (20) defined by woven warp and weft fibers, impressing the transfer mark film onto the canvas sheet so that the transfer mark film embeds in the woven fibers of the canvas sheet, and combining the canvas sheet with the transfer mark film thereon with at least one other component to produce an unvulcanized power transmission belt/belt sleeve.
