Tubular ball mills should de-agglomerate the mill lump product as well as crush the coarse plus 1 mm fraction in confined process spaces. The charge balls have max. dia. of 70 mm and average dia. 10-40 times the size consist of the feed. The lining (2) consists of radial profiles of triangular section. The axial interval of the profiles (3) is 1/2 times the maximum ball dia. and the profile height of the right angle equilateral triangles measured at the lining outlet is 60percent of the maximum ball dia. The centre point of the radius (5) is so offset relative to those of the remaining lining (2) radii that the profile base rises in the radial plane of the mill at the run-out end of the lining in the rotation sense up to the immersion depth into the profile of the smallest ball used. Secondary reduction of the coarse minum 1 mm fraction is carried out in rotary mills as circuited with a de-duster using SG cast iron lined (z) spaces in whcih the lining profile triangle base remains flat in the radial plane of the mill and the radius at the base in the axial mill plane is 95percent of the max. ball dia. throughout. The charge is poly-dispersed balls of 50 to minimum 16 mm. Final fine-grinding is carried out in continuous mills in open circuit in a process space which is lined forward and at the rear has sizing plates over a path length in ratio 1;6 to the ball diameter. In these spaces the balls are 60-12 mm and where the linings meet there is a baffle ring. USE/ADVANTAGE - Crushing e.g. cement. Coarse material crushed and shells de-aggomerated for higher throughout.
