The transducer has upper and lower guide elements (5,6) for parallel guidance of a load sensor (4) together with a load pan (9). At least four strain gauges (AR,BR,CL,DL) convert material extensions in selected regions of the linkages into resistance changes. At least two strain gauges are laterally displaced out of the plane of symmetry of the transducer in one direction and at least two in the other direction. Exactly four strain gauges can be used, from which three signals are extracted by connecting them differently. The first signal is proportional to the load when the pan is loaded centrally, but has corner load error when the pan is loaded off centrally. The second and third signals are proportional to the degree of off centre loading in both orthogonal x and y directions and are used to correct the first signal.
