Practical aluminum-based alloys containing from 1 to 99% by weight of beryllium and improved processes for the semi-solid treatment of such beryllium-containing aluminum alloys are disclosed. The process of the present invention avoids the need to introduce stirring and shear forces of molten beryllium, molten aluminum-beryllium alloys by using sprayed or finely divided particles of beryllium mixed with solid, particulate or liquid aluminum.
