A catalyst for ammonia synthesis under low temperature and pressure consists of Fe1-xO phase ranging from 88 to 98 wt.% and some promoters ranging from 2 to 12 wt.%. The chemical composition of the Fe1-xO phase is as follows: FeO: 56-93 wt.%, Fe2O3 : 5-35wt.%, Fe?2+/Fe3+: 2-20. Said promoters are at least two members selected from the group consisting of oxides of Al, K, Ca, Mg, Ba, Co, Mo, Mn, Cr, V, Zr, W, Ce, La and the like. A process of producing the catalyst is also provided.
