PURPOSE: To enable high-accuracy upturn/downturn prediction by a time sequential predictive method regarding the upturn/downturn trend of a value as more important than conventional time sequential values themselves by providing a means for predicting a time sequential tread component to be the object of prediction and a means for performing the time sequential upturn/downturn prediction of the predicting object. CONSTITUTION: This predictive device consists of a time sequential input means 101, a trend predicting means 102 and an upturn/downturn predicting means 103, and is provided with either one or both of a predicted result display means 104 and a predicted result output means 105. The time sequential input means 101 inputs the time sequence of merchandise prices from the outside. It is inputted from an external database or data supplying device through communication equipment, for example. At the trend predicting means 102 for predicting the trend component, the predictive value of the value in the future for the trend component of the predictive object time sequence is calculated. At the upturn/downturn predicting means 103, it is predicted by using the predictive value of the trend component and the real value of the predictive object time sequence whether the value of the predictive object time sequence in the future gets upturn or downturn from the present real value.
