PURPOSE: To contrive to reduce aerodynamic heating at the time of re-entry of an atmosphere re-entry capsule and to provide good aerodynamical motion characteristic at the time of low-level flying using a device exposed after sublimation of an ablation material by covering the ablation material with a low- level flying aerodynamic device provided on the periphery. ;CONSTITUTION: A capsule peripheral protrusion 11 is fitted to the periphery of a capsule body 1 as a low-level flying aerodynamic device. An ablation material 2 is coated on the capsule body 1 and the capsule peripheral protrusion 11 so as to cover them by the thickness decreasing at the time of re-entry. Thus amount of aerodynamic heating at the time of re-entry can be reduced by the effect of the ablation material 2 and the capsule peripheral protrusion 11 can be fuctioned as a low-speed flying aerodynamic device even at the time of low-speed flying.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
