PURPOSE: To provide the device for uprooting the tree, capable of digging up the roots of a standing tree with a mechanical shovel at a substantially constant position at a stoke and capable of carrying the tree in the root-having state as such without falling the tree, and further to provide the method for uprooting the tree. ;CONSTITUTION: A pair of right and left curved claws 3 whose front surfaces are projected are disposed on the digger 1 of a mechanical shovel P at a distance for inserting a standing tree, and hydraulic cylinders 21 for driving the claws are also disposed on the digger 1. The upper ends of both the curved claws 3 are pivotally supported so as to open or close the digging opening 5 of the digger 1. An opening for nipping a tree is disposed on the upper surface of the digger 1 to provide the device for uprooting the tree. The method for uprooting the root of the tree comprises pivotally supporting a pair of the right and left curved claws 3 on the digger 1 of the mechanical shovel P, further disposing the opening 9 for nipping the tree, digging the roots of the tree with the digger 1 in a state opening the curved claws 3, and simultaneously successively closing the curved claws 3 to rake the roots in the digger 1 in such a state as wrapping the roots.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
