The radar tracking system includes a pedestal (1) supporting a head (2) which may be rotated by a motor (3) and gear system (4). This allows exploration in through the range of azimuth. The head contains a receiver tube (5) pivoting under the control of a further motor (6) to allow exploration of the range of elevation. A YAG laser (7), mounted on one side of the pedestal projects its light on to two mirrors (8, 9), one being mounted on the pedestal and one mounted on the head, turning when the head turns. A mirror which dissects the beam, and deflector mirrors are mounted in the lower part of the head, with a mosaic detector (15) mounted on the top of the head.
