The method involves using a piercing cylinder (3) with a guide plate and a standpipe (8). The cylinder is inserted into the ground sealing layer (2) with the help of the guide plate does not penetrate through it. The guide plate follows the inclination of the ground but allows the cylinder to be inserted vertically. The average penetration depth in the ground sealing layer is measured and the standpipe is plugged watertight at the piercing cylinder. The standpipe is filled with water up to a marking, and the time and distance are measured to the extent the water level has lowered. The standpipe length is selected between 1.5 and 3 metres.
