The machine, which is used for grinding sheets of glass or marble, is designed to accommodate much wider fields of work and to use head-carrying arms of the "robot" type with three or more axes of articulation to increase the field of work and to perform, with a number of loading and unloading stations greater than two, a wider range of work, with lower capital and operating costs and smaller overall size; the head 2 is fitted with a hydraulic motor 10 with side plates 20 having grooves for oil pipes, supporting at the bottom, on hinges, a hollow circular flexible diaphragm assembly 32 or deformable, retractable, steerable and removable splashguard to permit a number of operations and direct tool changing with an automatic motor-driven dispenser in which individual stations having vertical axes coinciding with that of the head 2, are fitted with flexibly approaching teeth to prevent rotation of the flange 14a of the shank 16 that is screwed into the tool carrier 12 and with a vertical shaft underneath whose end can be flexibly inserted into the rectangular cavity that is open at the bottom with which the nose 17 of the said shank is fitted; the tool 35 is internally or independently cooled: the machine is used in industries working on sheets of glass and marble.
