Electrochemical method of monitoring to identify and evaluate the state of corrosion of the buried portion of metal piles inserted into cement foundations, involving monitoring of all the structures making up the system by using the principle of linear polarisation, implemented by application of electrode and counterelectrode, preferably of annular type, onto the foundation of cement or the ground, and detection via a suitable instrument, combined for this purpose with the metal structure and said electrode and counterelectrode, to find the free corrosion potential and the variations of potential in the metal structure at various predetermined values of the polarisation current induced for this purpose, thus arriving at the extent of the polarisation resistance from the ratio between the variation of potential and the polarisation current at the various values thereof and, thus, the magnitude of the corrosion current, or the rate of conversion, and finally compare the data thus obtained, regarding all the structures of the system, identifying those with higher corrosion rate, which will be the only ones subjected to demolition for inspection and possible replacement.
