Prepn. of an antidote-carrying Pioneer 3707 maize plant part for lowering the activated plant damage effect of the thiolcarbamates of formula (I) by (a) cultivating maize seals in field soil or under laboratory conditions; (b) applying a cpd. of formula (II) or an acylated deriv. or esterified deriv. to obtain maize plants carrying a herbicidal antidote which is a cpd. of formula (III) to (VIII); (c) harvesting the plants within 30 days of application of (II); (d) isolating the root or shoot, crushing in water and filtering to obtain filtrate and fibrous material; and (e) recovering either the filtrate or fibrous material. In formulae, R1 and R2 are 1-6C alkyl or 3-6C cycloalkyl; or together with a N form a hexamethyleneimino gp.; R3 is 1-5C alkyl or chloroacetanitriles of formula (a); R4 and R5 are H or 1-5C alkyl; and R6 is 1-5C alkyl, 2-5C alkenyl, pyrazolyl alkyl or alkoxyalkyl.
