PURPOSE: To detect the induction of chromosomal aberration in hepatic cells with saved man hours by proliferating mammalian hepatocytes after treatment with a proliferation stimulator and bringing them into contact with the test specimen to induce chromosal aberration followed by fixing and staining them. ;CONSTITUTION: Hepatocytes are isolated from mammalian liver, treated with a proliferation stimulator to proliferate them in vitro, simultaneously they are brought into contact with a compound as a test specimen to induce chromosomal aberration in the hepatic cells. Or the isolated hepatocytes and the specimen compound are brought into contact to induce the chromosomal aberration, then they are treated with a proliferation stimulator to proliferate hepatic cells in vitro. The cells are fixed, stained and the chromosomal aberration in the hepatic cells in observed whereby the aberration induction can efficiently be detected.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
