PURPOSE: To widen the width for selection of materials for forming the nonlinear element to be formed by laminating y a first conductor, a nonlinear conductive thin film and a second conductor and to simplify the process for production of such element by forming the nonlinear conductive thin film by coating by a sol-gel method. ;CONSTITUTION: After the first conductor 2 is formed on an insulating substrate, the nonlinear conductive thin film 3 is formed by the coating by the sol-gel method and thereafter, the second conductor 4 and pixel electrodes 5 are formed, by which the element exhibiting nonlinear current voltage characteristics is formed. The construction of the element and the process for production are formed and executed in such a manner, by which the width of the selection of the materials to be used for the conductors and the nonlinear conductive thin films is widened and the production stages are simplified.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
