The invention relates to a method of determination of the iodine at low concentration in a solution of nitrate, in particular, a solution of uranyl nitrate. & br / according to this process, there is added to the sample to be assayed, a reducing agent such as ascorbic acid in order to maintain the iodine in the state of iodide, then the difference in potential e1 between an electrode of iodide ions (5) and a reference electrode (7), it is then added successively a first and second solutions of iodide with known concentrations of iodide and containing a reducing agent, by measuring after each addition, the differences of potential e2 and e3 between the electrodes (5) and (7), is then computed from e1, e2, e3, concentrations and of the volumes of the additives, the initial concentration of iodine in the solution.
