摘要
The use of 4-oxo-4H-1-benzopyran or benzothiopyran derivs. of formula (I) is claimed for inducing expression of the nodulation gene of Rhizobium genus bacteria associated with a leguminous plant. In the formula, R1 = 6-12C aryl or 3-10 membered heterocycle (opt. aromatic) contg. 1-4 heteroatoms selected from O, S and N, both opt. substd. by one or more of halogen, CF3, OH, NO2, CN, Ph and OR1; R1 = 1-7C alkyl or 1-7C acyl; R2-R5 = H, halogen, CF3, NO2, CN, OH, 1-7C alkyl or OR1; X = O or S; provided that R1 is not p-hydroxyphenyl when R4 = OH, X = O and R2 is other than Cl, Me or OMe. Also claimed are a (I)-contg. compsn. for treating leguminous plants, and a process for treating leguminous plants with (I), pref. by application to seeds (opt. together with a Rhizobium prepn.) before sowing. Some cpds. (I) are claimed as new. USE - (I) promote infection of the plants with Rhizobium (symbiotic nitrogen fixing bacteria), improve the efficiency of nodulation and thus increase the yield of culture plants, esp. when N fixation is the limiting factor.
