The assembly consists of a screw (1) for implantation in the neck and head of the femur, and a nail (3) which secures the screw in position by passing through a transverse vertical passage in the shaft of the screw. The nail occupies the full length of the femoral medullary canal and is secured at the distal end of the femur. The screw and nail are secured to each other by a connector bar (2) secured rigidly to the projecting portion of each. The projecting portions of the screw and nail have hexagonal configurations which cooperate with respective hexagonal recesses in the connector bar. ADVANTAGE - Simplified interconnection of components, reducing implantation time and effort and ensuring optimum positioning.
