An electric apparatus 56, in particular a static switch, is connected in series with the contacts 22, 24 of a circuit breaker 10 and is protected by rapid switching of the arc, drawn between the separated contacts 22, 24 on an arc horn 39 cutting in a shunt circuit for the apparatus 56. The arc corn 39 has a boss 70 pointing towards the moving contact 24 in order to constitute a favoured point of restriking of an arc during opening of the circuit breaker. IMAGE
