A support serves for fastening a long stirrup lock to a vehicle during travelling. The lock body (10) of the long stirrup lock is introduced into a bearing socket (20) of a fastening receptacle (16) and it can be pivoted in this bearing socket (20) until associated rotation-preventing elements engage in one another. One end of the long stirrup lock can then be inserted into the lock body through a tubular annular lug of the fastening receptacle (16). After the long stirrup has been locked in the lock body (10), the long stirrup lock is secured immovably and unreleasably in the fastening receptacle (16).
