Double coated magnetic recording material, e.g. video tape - with specified creep values, giving smooth surface and high electrical conversion over wide recording wavelength range
Magnetic recording material (I) is obtd. by giving a substrate (II): (a) an undercoat (III) of magnetic paint with a creep elongation of 20-1000% (calculated for paint contg. 30 wt.% non-volatiles (NV) at 20 deg.C and 1 Pa load); and (b) a top coat (IV) of magnetic paint with a creep elongation of 10-500%. (III) and (IV) are pref. applied simultaneously, pref. by extrusion onto (II). (III) is 0.5-6.0 microns thick and (IV) 0.01-0.5 microns thick (dry). USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) is used for magnetic tape, e.g. video tape. (I) has a smooth surface and high electrical conversion properties and can cover a wide range of recording wavelengths.
