Vehicle traffic lights system providing bus lane priority - halts traffic in outer lane to allow vehicles in inner lane to overtake bus taking passengers at bus stop
The traffic lights system controls the traffic in an outer traffic lane (2) running alongside an inner bus lane (1) so that the traffic is halted when a bus (B) is stationary at a bus stop (H) to allow vehicles (B1) behind the bus to enter the outer traffic lane and overtake the bus. The traffic lights are switched to red for the traffic in the outer lane automatically when the bus pulls up at the bus stop and are switched back to green when the bus lane is free. ADVANTAGE - Allows authorised vehicles in bus lane to be given priority over other road vehicles.
