The voltage regulator providing a regulated supply voltage (uc) has a regulation loop with a reference network (q), a differential stage (d) and a setting element (r) connected between the input and output terminals (k1,k2) of the voltage regulator. The current supply for the reference network and the differential stage is provided from the digital regulator output terminal. A starting device (St), used during a starting phase, has a sensor (F1) detecting irregular operation of the reference network dependent on current and/or voltage values, and activating the starting device at a switch threshold defining the starting phase. ADVANTAGE - Starting device acts directly on regulation loop, to ensure normal operating range.
