To determine the colour intensity of mixed dyestuffs in liquid dye containers, the intensity of the colour in each of the three colours is measured by optical density of the pure colour mixed with water. Also claimed is an assembly with an optical density meter (18) at each dye container (4-6) containing the dyes mixed with water. It gives a measured value and/or is linked to an indicator. USE/ADVANTAGE - The system is for the monitoring of the colour intensity of dyes mixed with water for use in a textile dyeing machine. The method gives an accurate and simple register of the colour intensity to give high dyeing speeds as the dye can be topped up rapidly and correctly.
