In the procedure for indirectly determining the surface characteristics of pressurised gas containers, a single continuous measurement of the gas moisture content is made while emptying a container filled with moist nitrogen or another gas or gas mixture. The procedure is carried out under isothermal conditions and while maintaining an equilibrium between the adsorbed moisture and the moisture of the gas in the container. A container- specific variable Gamma is then derived from the following equation: Moisture content = a*p(-exp) gamma , where a is a constant and p is gas pressure. USE - In determination of internal surface properties of pressurised gas containers, especially in applications where the quality and/or purity of the gas is of importance.
