A rectangular voltage pulse is applied to the measurement system which converts it into a current pulse and passes it via a comparison resistance (13). The voltage drop across the resistance is measured and recorded and used for calibration. The current pulse is fed into the measured circuit (17) and the voltage drop across it measured and recorded. The voltage drop across the measured circuit is integrated and the resulting curve is recorded. The time delay, gradient and peak value of the transient voltage are determined form the voltage drop and integrated voltage drop. ADVANTAGE - Enables accurate measurement of transient voltages. Injected currents are small, for low energy requirement.
