In the treatment of liquids, partic. water, the liquid is subjected to the fields from two sequential, axially arranged, square-wave excited coils (700,800). A distinct square waveform e.m.f. is applied to each coil, and the square wave potentials are in opposed phase. USE/ADVANTAGE - Reduction of pipe scaling/calcification by modification of crystal habit to produce precipitated solids with tendency to deposit/agglomerate; also denitrification of drinking water, treatment of fuel, and medical treatment of body fluids (in and ex vitro) and bone fractures. Process giving consistent and improved performance in the precipitation of lime, etc. by magnetic treatment, induced by specific combinations of square-waveform emfs.
