The measuring device includes a pumping light source, a variable optical delay (2), a polariser (3) and an interaction crystal, arranged in the direction of light. Measurement light sources, a second polariser (9), the interaction crystal, an analyser (14) and sensor, e.g. a CCD line (16) are arranged in the path of measurement light. The pumping pulses (1) and the measurement pulses (8) are polarised at 45 deg. to each other. The pulses are linearly superimposed in the interaction crystal, and the output from the crystal is analysed. The lateral intensity distribution is evaluated. USE/ADVANTAGE - E.g. for ps or fs pulse laser measurements. Also provides data regarding asymmetry of light pulses.
